Lucy Juhnke is an emerging artist from Awabakal Country (Lake Macquarie), living and working in Guruk (Port Macquarie).
Her painting practice reflects a generation of women engaged in ongoing negotiations of identity, where domestic space becomes a site for shaping comfort, autonomy and belonging. Working primarily with interiors and everyday objects, Juhnke examines the home as both a physical and psychological environment — a place that shapes and is shaped by its inhabitants. Since 2021 Juhnke has exhibited widely across regional New South Wales and was a finalist in Northern Exposure 9 at the Glasshouse Regional Gallery in 2026.
Alongside her studio practice, Juhnke has developed an independent curatorial practice focused on activating regional spaces and supporting emerging artists. Working in collaboration with local businesses and community venues across Port Macquarie, she has presented a series of exhibitions that expand opportunities for artists outside traditional gallery settings. These projects foster accessible cultural experiences while contributing to a growing network of artist-led initiatives within the region.
