Macleay River Meats Recognised For Export Excellence

Macleay River Meats trading as Eversons Food Processors, a family owned and managed multi species abattoir in Frederickton, near Kempsey, has taken out the State’s top honours for Excellence in Export at the prestigious NSW Business Chamber State Business Awards in Sydney.

Sponsored by Export Growth China, the Excellence in Export award recognises leading examples of businesses that are forging a strong reputation for Australian products and services in international markets.

After extensive feasibility studies with an export consultant in 2013, they began exporting lamb and sheep skins direct to China, and since August 2013 Macleay River Meats have exported 241,700 skins resulting in a revenue increase of $3.5M, which also resulted in the creation of two new positions within the business.

Macleay River Meats Human Resources Manager Kerri Riddington said the award was “recognition and validation of what the Everson family has tried to do in their business for over 35 years.”

“We are very grateful to all our staff who have worked as a great team on this successful export initiative,” said Ms Riddington.

Kellon Beard, Regional Manager NSW Business Chamber Mid North Coast, congratulated Macleay River Meats on winning the Excellence in Export Award.

“It’s not easy being an Australian exporter, especially developing a new product or service for export. It’s very pleasing to be able to recognise great Australian businesses that are exporting, especially to China, and providing employment and opportunities within our local region”.
