If you’re keen to see the ‘Light the Bridge’ proposal come to fruition, come along to the next Kempsey & District Chamber of Commerce meeting to hear from solar power expert John Moylan from Asten Solar.
John has extensive experience using solar lighting techniques to dramatically light public spaces, transforming them from dark voids to interesting and beautiful night-time environments. John will show us some of his previous projects such as the Snowy Mountains Beatification Project and the Condobolin Story.
John has purpose built a prototype of the bulkhead operating system to outline his vision for the ‘Light the Bridge’ project in Kempsey.
Chamber spokespersons Sue Gorman and Leeanne Stuart said they believed lighting the bridge would be a positive and beautiful addition to the Smith Street upgrade.
“Driving across the bridge has the potential to be a lasting experience and one that will be remembered by our visitors and children alike in years to come,” Ms Gorman said.
“We need to work with the assets we have and enhance them to their full potential. Due to its location, the bridge can be used to draw more positive attention towards one of our greatest asset – the beautiful Macleay River.”
Numerous local businesses, including Kempsey RSL which enjoys a commanding riverbank position and a stunning restaurant and lounge views of the river and bridge, have already stepped forward as sponsors for the project.
“We would really like to get as many people as possible along for our February meeting so we can better understand from John what the potential of the bridge and this project is,” Ms Gorman said.
