Does this effect your business? State Environmental Planning Policy No. 64 – Advertising and Signage (SEPP 64) sets out planning controls for advertising and signage in NSW. Changes were made in late 2017 to improve road safety and reduce driver distraction. Changes in SEPP 64 include: Banning advertisements on parked trailers on roads, road shoulders, footpaths and nature strips, excluding advertising associated with the primary use of the trailer, e.g. tradies trailer, and public authorities Requiring consent for displaying signage on trailers parked on private land in view from roads, road shoulders, footpaths and nature strips Allowing advertising in transport corridors permissible with consent from the Planning Minister or delegate, across NSW; and Minor updates to clauses, terms and definitions. It is estimated the businesses in the room represent over 700 local jobs across different industries. The Chamber works to bring business together to network and share news, opinions and to learn about the changes affecting our local economy. At a recent Macleay Valley Business Chamber meeting, attendees agreed to continue Chamber support for the Kempsey CBD Cinema project. While there have been changes to the structure of the funding model for the project, the Chamber continues to support the Cinema Project on the same principals that it will bring both social and economic benefits to our town. Kempsey Council’s media release “Cinema Funding Alternative” on the 22nd November announced that construction is due to go ahead for the project through a Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) which will remove ongoing risk away from Council. Once the draft VPA is completed it will be placed on public exhibition via Council's website. The Council contribution identified for this project comes from existing unrestricted reserve funding meaning there is no borrowing or…
