Christmas Cheer in the CBD

The corner of Smith street and Belgrave St will again be graced by the town Christmas Tree, an icon that marks the beginning of the festive season. 2017 marks the seventh year the tree has been installed in the CBD.

The original purchase and ongoing maintenance has been coordinated by the Macleay Valley Business Chamber Promotions Committee and funded through the support of community raffles and business sponsorship over the years.

Local business Dunn’s Cranes are the team behind the installation of the tree, which is planned to take place this month to lead the way for upcoming events including the Annual Twilight Markets and Carols by Candlelight.

The Annual Twilight Markets will be held on the 2nd December 2017 starting at 4pm and this year will continue until 10pm due to the generous support of Kempsey Shire Council. Carols by candlelight with the Kempsey Silver Band starts at 8pm followed by a planned fireworks spectacular at 8:30pm. The community are encouraged to stay on and enjoy the line-up of live & local bands until 10pm.

“The recent independent study of our town 4 years after the by-pass demonstrated a number of growth indicators. The Chamber anticipates this will translate into a boost for the local economy over the current Christmas/ New Year period.” said Chamber President Gary Scott .

“The Chamber is proud to be able to facilitate the Christmas Tree and Twilight Markets and extend thanks to the many supporters, sponsors and volunteers over the years. These events create an opportunity for the community to come together and help position the Macleay as a great place to live, invest and enjoy.”
