HOW TO SAVE ON YOUR ELECTRICITY

The State’s peak business organisation, the NSW Business Chamber, has launched its free ‘NSW Business Energy Comparison’ tool.

Advocating for affordable and reliable energy has been a priority of the Chamber for a long time, aiming to reduce excessive network costs and concentration of wholesale and retail markets.

“What we were surprised to find, was the complexity of quotes the companies have been given. Making it almost impossible to work out whether you’re on the best deal,” said Kellon Beard, Regional Manager Mid North Coast NSW Business Chamber.

Across the State, we are seeing some great savings.

“On average we’re saving businesses about $1,500 per annum on their bills, but there are some big energy consumers such as bakeries and car dealers who are saving over $20,000 per year,” said Mr Beard.

Gayle Kee from TG’s Child Care of Wauchope is one of the beneficiaries of this offer.

Gayle said energy is a really big part of our business, we have started seeing our energy bills double and continue to climb, we’ve been paying up to $6,000 per quarter and about $23,000 annually”.

For TG’s Child Care using the service has saved a minimum of $3,844 — a figure Gayle says is conservative and won’t go unnoticed.

“It was straightforward and talking to the Account Manager was fascinating.

He pointed out a massive range of things like we weren’t getting paid correctly for our feed-in solar tariffs, and he explained we would receive a 27 per cent discount if we pay the bills on time.

These are huge annual savings we can put back into the business as resources for the children and training opportunities for staff.”
