Our Guest Speaker at the October MVBC Network Dinner meeting is Chris Dockrill, a successful playwright, musical and film producer. With a teaching career of over 30 years, many know Chris as the former head teacher of English and Drama at Kempsey High School. In addition to a successful teaching career, Chris has many published works, been instrumental in the development of drama festivals as well as the production of several musical dramas. More recently, Chris has worked towards achieving national and international success with the rock musical and film ‘The Island of Dr Moron’ . The State’s peak business organisation, the NSW Business Chamber, has launched its free ‘NSW Business Energy Comparison’ tool. Advocating for affordable and reliable energy has been a priority of the Chamber for a long time, aiming to reduce excessive network costs and concentration of wholesale and retail markets. “What we were surprised to find, was the complexity of quotes the companies have been given. Making it almost impossible to work out whether you’re on the best deal,” said Kellon Beard, Regional Manager Mid North Coast NSW Business Chamber. Across the State, we are seeing some great savings. “On average we’re saving businesses about $1,500 per annum on their bills, but there are some big energy consumers such as bakeries and car dealers who are saving over $20,000 per year,” said…
Small businesses can now take advantage of a new digital diagnostic tool that has been developed for the Australian Small Business Advisory Service to help business owners understand the changing environment and identify gaps and opportunities to grow their enterprise. The assessment tool takes a business owner through a series of questions from which priorities are identified. This information is then used to design a quality action plan that highlights areas in addressing future business needs. The Australian Small Business Advisory Service is an initiative of the Federal Government to support and empower small business in the rapidly growing digital economy. The program is operated on the Mid North Coast, Northern NSW and New England areas through the Northern Region Business Enterprise Centre (NRBEC). The evening brought together local business members to meet and greet and share in acknowledging some of our generous local contributors.
